Christopher Gibbs

Christopher C. Gibbs was born in California in February 1945 and raised in Missouri. After graduating college in Colorado, he enlisted in the army and served 18 months in Vietnam with the 18th Military Police Brigade. He went to graduate school on the GI Bill and received a Master's Degree in History in 1974 and a Ph.D. in History in 1980. He is married and lives with his wife and children in New Jersey. He has lived in over a half-dozen different states, including many months in Missouri's Lead Belt, the site of his Highland County series of crime novels. He has been a cowboy, a ditch digger, a dish washer, deck hand on a Mississippi river boat, and a post-doctoral research assistant at Harvard Business School. He has published a number of historical works, including The Great Silent Majority, a study of Missouri during and after the First World War. The Broken Past is the fifth novel in his Highland County series, featuring policeman James Bolivar Buckner and the citizens of Corinth, Missouri.
