VERSUS THE MULTIVERSE is a wonderful journey that muses on the nature of God, what happens to humans after they die and if there is an alternate universe that mankind has not discovered yet.
Kyle Darnell is a young boy whose life changes forever after he gets into an argument with his older brother Chris and gets slammed to the ground.

Kyle Darnell is a young boy whose life changes forever after he gets into an argument with his older brother Chris and gets slammed to the ground.

After he is accidentally killed by his brother, Kyle is thrown into the body of an adult and goes on a spiritual journey to save the multiverse. Along the way, Kyle meets a young deputy sheriff named Sam and the two friends face off with a foe called the Morning Star. During his journey, Kyle realizes that he is an avatar of the deity known as the Godself and the Morning Star is his son.

VERSUS THE MULTIVERSE is a compelling tale that weaves the multiverse theory in with elements of the Christian religion. Darnell’s characters are realistic and well rounded. Kyle and his alter ego, the avatar “Godself” are not perfect, and Darnell makes sure to highlight their foibles with intriguing results.

The supporting characters are also complex and each are given time in the spotlight to develop, while significant amount of time is devoted to delving into their backstory, keeping the characters from becoming stereotypes.

Even though VERSUS THE MULTIVERSE has a dark tone, Darnell includes a few moments of biting sarcasm that helps keep the novel from being too depressing.

Darnell also does a wonderful job of breaking down the complex multiverse theory and presenting it in a way that will be easily digestible for readers. While the author excels at bringing Kyle’s home on Earth to life, some of the descriptions of the other worlds in the multiverse lack luster and could be developed more for a richer setting. In addition, an editorial polish would help smooth over some rough spots in the narrative.

VERSUS THE MULTIVERSE is a wonderful journey that muses on the nature of God, what happens to humans after they die and if there is an alternate universe that mankind has not discovered yet.
